Thirty minutes a day for five days of the week – it doesn’t sound like much does it? And yet the majority of adults are falling well below this figure when it comes to getting some valuable exercise.
There are some distinctly easy ways to rack up those thirty minutes though. For example if you have an exercise bike it is easy enough to hop on when you have the time and get even fifteen minutes of exercise in this way. This is halfway towards your daily quota without even trying very hard.
One of the better ways to get some daily exercise if you need something a bit more motivating to do is to jump on the Wii. The Nintendo games system is really good and has taken the world by storm. Plenty of people are now getting more exercise than ever before thanks to this system, and they are finding it very enjoyable as well. In fact if you have the Wii Fit Plus you will know that it tells you when you have achieved thirty minutes worth of exercise by treating you to a little fanfare! You might want to continue beyond thirty minutes though as it is so much fun.
The trick to getting those thirty minutes is to find ways of exercising that you truly love doing. If you choose something you don’t like – such as jogging for example if you hate going outside and running – then you won’t keep it up for any real length of time. And that will make you feel disillusioned as well.
Try thinking about breaking those thirty minutes up into smaller units as well if it helps. For example instead of getting the bus to work (or all the way there) get off a few stops earlier or walk from home instead. If it is a twenty minute journey on foot you will easily have got your quota of exercise each day by the time you get home, even if you do nothing else.
You can see that it doesn’t have to be hard or be a chore either to make this work for you. You just have to take your likes and dislikes and plan your exercise around them accordingly. This will always lead to a much better result and you will actually come to enjoy those thirty minutes of ‘you’ time for getting fitter.
